East China’s Jiangsu province has made comprehensive efforts to promote the connectivity of transportation infrastructure in the Yangtze River Delta at a higher level, according to a meeting held in Nantong on Wednesday.
In 2022, the construction of the Yangtze River Delta on track was accelerated with 130 kilometers of high-speed rail increased in the region, adding up to a total operating mileage of more than 6600 kilometers.
Jiangsu started the construction of three inter-provincial railway projects that include the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway and the North Yangtze River high-speed railway.
Jiangsu is speeding up the construction of the Nanjing-Huai'an high-speed railway and the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou high-speed railway.
About 510 kilometers of expressways and about 180 kilometers of high-grade waterways have been added to the Yangtze River Delta, totaling 16700 kilometers and 4270 kilometers respectively.
The completed projects include the T4 terminal and transportation center of Hangzhou Airport Phase III and the T1 south corridor of Nanjing Lukou Airport. The construction of six projects including the fourth phase expansion project of Shanghai Pudong Airport was commenced. Significant progress has been made in the Nantong New Airport project.
In addition, 12 new inter-provincial bus lines have been opened in the border areas of the Yangtze River Delta, with a total of 95 lines opened, continuously promoting the "intra-city link" of inter-city traffic in the Yangtze River Delta.
In 2023, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui will accelerate the construction of intercity and municipal railways, improve the level of infrastructure connectivity of the Yangtze River Delta urban areas, promote the construction of world-class airport clusters, and complete and operate the South Yangtze River intercity railway and the Anhui section of the Nanjing-Chuzhou Expressway.
