The second working meeting of the Yangtze River Delta Regional Ecological Environmental Protection Collaboration Group was held on Wednesday afternoon. The leaders participating in the meeting studied the Xi Jinping Thought on ecological civilization and General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on ecological environmental protection in the Yangtze River Delta, studied and deployed key tasks of regional ecological environmental protection cooperation in a bid to promote the ecological and environmental protection of the Yangtze River Delta to a new height.
Li Qiang, secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and leader of the collaboration group, pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, General Secretary Xi Jinping has made a series of important expositions on strengthening the ecological protection of the Yangtze River Delta, which has pointed out the way forward for us to jointly build a green and beautiful Yangtze River Delta.
Li Qiang pointed out that Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui must further focus on the key points, strengthen overall coordination, pay close attention to the implementation, strive to form more new highlights and new breakthroughs in key areas, and comprehensively improve the level of coordinated ecological and environmental governance in the Yangtze River Delta region.
The Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, who is also a member of the CPC Politburo, remarked that efforts will be made to strengthen the restoration of the ecological environment protection of the Yangtze River and the governance of the Taihu Lake Basin, pay attention to the restoration of ecosystems and biodiversity, and jointly create a model for the protection of drinking water sources in trans-boundary areas.
He asked the Yangtze River Delta region to comprehensively use the rule of law, market, administration, and scientific and technological means to solve cross-regional pollution prevention and control problems, expand the space for cooperation in an all-round way, strive for new breakthroughs in institutional innovation, and take practical actions to welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Huang Runqiu, Minister of Ecology and Environment and Deputy Head of the Collaboration Group, pointed out that since the establishment of the collaborative group more than a year ago, the four provincial administrative regions in the Yangtze River Delta and central ministries and commissions have adhered to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, thoroughly implemented the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, and continued to deepen regional ecological environment protection and joint governance so as to have improved the quality of the ecological environment in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Noting that the vivid practice in the Yangtze River Delta region has made a good demonstration and accumulated valuable experience for China to explore the way of regional cooperation in ecological and environmental protection, Huang Runqiu said in the next step, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment will cooperate with relevant ministries and commissions, three provinces and one city, give full play to the role of the collaboration mechanism, and continuously improved the quality of green development in the Yangtze River Delta.
Xu Kunlin, Deputy Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and Governor, said that since last year, Jiangsu has thoroughly implemented the Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions on promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, and has gone all out to strengthen the key tasks determined by the first meeting of the Ecological Environmental Protection Collaborative Group in the Yangtze River Delta region.
Jiangsu will continue to promote the optimization and adjustment of energy, industry, transportation, and spatial structure, go all out to strengthen the ecological protection of the Yangtze River and the cleanup of the Taihu Lake, and promote the rectification of problems found by the central ecological and environmental protection inspector.
The Yangtze River Delta Regional Ecological Environment Publicity and Education Alliance was established.
Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui signed the Memorandum of Work on the "Three Unifications" for the Collaborative Management of Petrochemical and Chemical Volatile Organic Compounds in the Hangzhou Bay Area, the Memorandum on the Joint Establishment of the "2+12" Air Pollution Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism between Jiangsu and Anhui, and the Yangtze Estuary-Hangzhou Bay "Cooperation Agreement on Ecological Environmental Protection in Offshore Sea Areas", and the Memorandum on Joint Prevention and Control of Ecological Environmental Protection of Drinking Water Sources in the Demonstration Zone for Ecological Green Integrated Development in the Yangtze River Delta".
