The Jiangsu Provincial Meteorological Observatory issued an orange warning for high temperature on Tuesday morning as the highest temperature in many parts of the province rising above 37°C on that day. The continuous high temperature has brought a lot of inconvenience to people’s work and life, and it has also brought a lot of challenges to the workers committed to their work outdoors.

The Provincial Meteorological Observatory continued to issue an orange high temperature warning on Tuesday morning, with 11 of the province's 13 prefecture-level cities reporting a high temperature of above 37°C. Xuzhou and Lianyungang reported maximum temperatures of 35 to 36°C, and an observation site in Jurong County reported a temperature of 40°C.

Exposure to direct sunlight can cause a noticeable burning sensation in just a few minutes. Many pedestrians and cyclists used hats, sun protection clothing and masks to wrap themselves tightly.

In response to the sizzling heatwave, various parts of the province have introduced measures to avoid the heat and cool down.

Some construction sites in Suqian have prepared drinks, popsicles, mung bean soup, watermelon, and sufficient heatstroke prevention supplies.

200 roadside lounges in Yangzhou have brought coolness to outdoor workers such as sanitation workers, takeaway deliverymen, and couriers.

Taizhou has set up complimentary convenience kiosks in People's Park, Financial Plaza, and Sports Park to provide free drinking water, antipyretic drugs and anti-epidemic materials.

In sweltering weather, heatstroke occurs from time to time with varying symptoms such as threatened heatstroke, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, which indicates increasing risks.

Doctors suggest that once someone is found to have flushing, dizziness, and nausea, they should be moved to a cool, ventilated place to take a rest in time. For heatstroke patients, cooling measures can help relieve symptoms.

We transfer the patient to a cool and ventilated place away from the heat source, unbutton his clothes, and cool him down. For example, we can give him some ice compresses, we can consider using ice compresses for the aorta, and blowing a fan on the forehead, but avoid direct blow. Also, add water in small amounts.
