Wu Zhenglong, Secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, hoped that Nanjing Customs would adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, gain a deeper understanding of the decisive significance of the "two affirmations", build a strong national security barrier, prevent the in-bound flow of the covid-19 epidemic from abroad, continue to optimize the port business environment, and promote high-level opening up to the outside world. He made the remarks when going on an inspection tour Monday in Nanjing Customs.
When inspecting the Monitoring and Command Center of the Nanjing Customs, Wu Zhenglong said that the recent global rebound in the covid-19 cases and the increase in inbound flights, the flow of people and logistics have aggravated the prevention of the inbound flow of the epidemic from abroad, making it more important to resolutely implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions and the Party Central Committee’s important decision-making deployment, stick to dynamic zero-COVID policy, strictly implement the ninth edition of the covid-19 prevention and control plan and the requirements of the port epidemic prevention regulations, implement monitoring, testing and preventive disinfection supervision with the strictest means, and protect people's life and health to the greatest extent.
He asked the Provincial Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters to strengthen coordination with the customs so as to weave a solid "water, land and air" three-dimensional epidemic prevention and control network.
Wu Zhenglong made detailed inquiry into the customs clearance and import and export of goods through video connection and platform data information. He was gratified to learn that the province witnessed month-on-month vitality and confidence of the foreign trade market players and the import and export volume of sea and air freight in the second quarter.
Wu asked Nanjing Customs to take various measures to ensure smooth customs clearance, deepen cooperation with RCEP member countries, Belt and Road countries and BRICS member countries, and strengthen cooperation with provinces and municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Yangtze River Delta Region to facilitate customs clearance, help enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency and enhance competitiveness.
After making inquiry into the customs' supervision of hazardous chemicals, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee required the customs to firmly establish the concept of safety-oriented development, further improve the level of professional, intelligent and refined supervision, make in-depth investigation and rectification of potential safety hazards, increase the strength of safety supervision and law enforcement, and focus on building a long-term mechanism for multi-departmental coordination and cooperation to ensure absolute security.
During the inspection tour, Wu Zhenglong expressed his heartfelt thanks to the General Administration of Customs and Nanjing Customs for their long-term strong support to Jiangsu's work. He also conveyed his sincere greetings to the customs officers who have kept continuously fighting on the front line of coordinating epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development.
He said that Jiangsu is an economic powerhouse with competitive strength in opening-up, adding that to undertake a new mission and write a new chapter on the new journey, we must unswervingly deepen reform and expand opening up in an all-round way, and strive to create a new highland for reform and opening up in the new era.
Wu Zhenglong hoped that Nanjing Customs would further play its functional role, promote domestic and international circulation, build a strong national security barrier, make better use of international and domestic resources and markets, and promote the coordinated development of domestic and external demand, import and export, trade and industry and make greater efforts to promote the high-quality development of Jiangsu.
