East China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts to promote the construction of the Jiangsu section of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt by following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on top-level design, heritage protection, cultural and tourism integration.
The China Grand Canal Museum, located on the banks of the Sanwan Ancient Canal in Yangzhou, welcomes a large number of tourists every day. Since its opening more than a year ago, this national-level museum has attracted a total of 1.18 million visitors.
As a landmark project in the construction of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park, the China Grand Canal Museum has a large collection of cultural relics, which are vividly displayed through "5G+VR" technology and immersive interactive experience.
Jiangsu has also gone all out to expand its online space. The digital cloud platform of the Grand Canal National Cultural Park, which was put into trial operation at the end of last year, has enabled people to visit the scenic spots along the canal online and feel the cultural charm in an interactive experience relying on virtual reality and 3D modeling technologies.

Since last year, Jiangsu has issued the "Implementation Plan for the Construction of World-Class Canal Cultural Heritage Tourism Corridors" by formulating and issuing the Grand Canal cultural heritage protection and inheritance, integrating the development of cultural tourism, and providing institutional guarantee for the Grand Canal from the top-level design, so as to better protect, inherit and make good use of the Grand Canal.
By 2025, Jiangsu will build one or two world-class tourist attractions and about 10 provincial-level and above all-for-one tourism demonstration areas along the Grand Canal.
