East China’s Jiangsu province registered 6.18 billion yuan of investment in key water conservancy projects in the first five months, accounting for 45.8% of the annual plan.
The flood detention project around the Hongze Lake is one of the 38 water conservancy projects Jiangsu has launched for the further treatment of the Huaihe River. It has been included in 172 major water conservancy projects for water conservation and water supply identified by the State Council and 150 major water conservancy projects to be promoted in 2020-2022.
The local government has set up a construction project leadership group, and the water conservancy department and the township government have set up a special task group to promote the project construction.
At the construction site of the flood detention area, more than a dozen sets of large-scale machinery were working at full capacity to reinforce the embankment of the Hongze Lake.
Jiangsu is also continuing to promote the environmental improvement of a number of small and medium-sized rivers, the elimination of potential dangers of sluices and pumping stations, and the reinforcement of dams.
At the construction site of the New Taohuagang Riverside Hub Engineering Project, more than 90 construction workers were stepping up the construction despite the high temperature.
The project has installed a "smart construction site" platform to ensure construction safety in an all-round way and improve the quality of the project.
Since this year, water conservancy departments at all levels in Jiangsu have invested 13.5 billion yuan in the construction of key water conservancy projects. From January to May, Jiangsu registered an investment of 6.18 billion yuan in key water conservancy projects, completing 45.8% of the annual plan and employing more than 11,000 workers.
