The city of Yancheng in east China’s Jiangsu province has accelerated carbon peaking and carbon neutrality to promote energy transition. Let’s take a close look.

Sheyang Changfeng Marine Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is preparing to send the giant wind power steel pipe piles that have just rolled off the assembly line to Guangdong.

Designed by means of virtual loading and 3D simulation optimization, the steel pipe piles developed by Changfeng Offshore Engineering and domestic and foreign research institutions are corrosion-resistant and seawater-resistant.

The company has also developed large-tonnage gantry cranes to ensure product manufacturing and installation so that these single steel pipe piles, which are measured at a length of 110 meters and a weight of 1,800 tons, will be installed with the slightest possible errors. The company has registered sales of 900 million yuan from January to May.

In the process of promoting carbon peaking and carbon neutralization, Yancheng has prioritized the development of the new energy industry in a bid to promote the assembly of offshore wind power equipment and the manufacture of key equipment while focusing on breakthroughs in the manufacture of key components to build a complete wind power industry chain.

At the same time, Yancheng has also continued to implement the strategy of three-dimensional layout of wind power and photovoltaics, and the joint development of development and manufacturing. State-owned and leading enterprises such as Huaneng have promoted the continuous optimization of the regional energy production and consumption structure.

For example, Trina Solar can not only produce the world's top 210-size large silicon wafers, but also innovate and develop vertical packaging solutions to increase the space loading capacity, making it the best choice for the construction of large-scale photovoltaic bases.

Yancheng has registered more than 100 new energy enterprises above designated scale by building a whole industrial chain ecosystem including resource development, equipment manufacturing, scientific and technological innovation research and development, supporting operation and maintenance so that it has become the first “10-million-kilowatt new energy power generation city in the Yangtze River Delta region”.

As of the end of May, Yancheng had reported an installed capacity of 12.2258 million kilowatts in new energy power generation, accounting for 26.37% of the province's total. The city also reported 11.252 billion kWh of new energy power generation, accounting for 30.21% of the province. From January to May, large-scale new energy companies in Yancheng reported invoiced sales of 50.004 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 64.69%.
