East China’s Jiangsu province marked the annual session of the international museum day on Wednesday by launching a variety of cultural activities. Let’s take a close look.

The Nanjing Museum kicked off an exhibition From the Qinhuai River to the Yangtze River - Special Exhibition of Cultural Relics in the Ancient Nanjing Section of the Yangtze River to exhibit 300 sets of cultural relics from four museums that include the Nanjing Museum, the Zhenjiang Museum, the Nanjing Archaeological Institute, and the Nanjing General Museum.

From the remains of ancient human activities 600 thousand years ago, to Zheng He's voyages to the Western Ocean and the Maritime Silk Road, each piece of precious cultural relics ushered the visitors into the distant past.

From Wednesday to June 19, the reopened Nanjing City Wall Museum brings a heavyweight special exhibition to the public to display four bronze statues of zodiac animal heads in Haiyan Hall in the Western Palace of the Yuanmingyuan and ten pieces of fine cultural relics from the Qing Dynasty.

During this year’s edition of the International Museum Day, museums in Jiangsu launched a total of 154 new exhibitions and special exhibitions.

An electric meter museum in Jiangyan District of Taizhou has a collection of nearly 300 various electric meters.

At the Crystal Museum in Donghai County, visitors can experience the peculiar landscape formed by natural crystals.

In Lishui District of Nanjing, the World Insect Stamp Museum has recently opened, and visitors can view more than 20,000 insect-themed stamps.

The first provincial-level Chinese medicine museum in Jiangsu province built by Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine was put into trial operation on Wednesday.

Jiangsu has registered 335 museums, including 13 national first-class museums,ranking among the top in the country in terms of the quantity and quality.
