China reported a steady flow of passengers and vehicles during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday, the Ministry of Transportation said on Tuesday.
Statistics released by the Ministry of Transport show that from April 3 to 5, the country’s highways transported 46.34 million passengers, down 53.2% from the same period in 2021 and up 0.9% from the same period in 2020.
The national waterway system sent 650 thousand passengers, a decrease of 77.0% compared with the same period in 2021 and down 42.5% compared with the same period in 2020.
Civil aviation sent 562 thousand passengers, down 87.0% from the same period in 2021 and down 53.8% from the same period in 2020.
The Qingming Festival, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, is an important festival in China when people pay tribute to the dead. They visit the graves of their ancestors and offer sacrifices to them.
