East China’s Jiangsu province is taking tough measures to contain the sporadic resurgence of the COVID-19 epidemic by following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions on epidemic prevention and control so as to cut off the chain of transmission, prevent the spread of the epidemic, and protect the safety and health of the people.

Lianyungang reported 12 confirmed local covid-19 cases and 16 asymptomatic cases on Sunday, adding to a total of 132 and 64 in both categories.

As of Monday evening, Lianyungang has marked off 108 containment zones and 67 prevention zones with 99 areas classified as medium-risk zones.

Lianyungang activated an emergency plan for medical waste disposal due to actively respond to the pressure of transshipment and disposal and the rapid increase in epidemic-related medical waste brought about by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Lianyungang Power Supply Bureau took measures to ensure the power supply of emergency response headquarters, designated medical institutions, nucleic acid testing laboratories, centralized isolation sites, large supermarkets, water plants, and gas companies.

The city of Changzhou reported 1 person tested positive in the nucleic acid testing on Monday, adding to a total of 18 confirmed cases and 3 asymptomatic cases. All the positive cases have been hospitalized at designated hospitals and are in stable condition from active treatment.

Changzhou has so far marked off one area as a high-risk zone and two areas as medium-risk zones.
