The first 3,000-ton electric cargo ship in the Yangtze River Basin set sail in Nanjing on Tuesday. The largest electric cargo ship in the Yangtze River basin will effectively help the green and low-carbon transformation of shipping in the Yangtze River.
Transformed from a fuel-fired ship, the "Chuanlian No. 1" electric cargo ship is equipped with two sets of removable batteries in the cabin, which can store 2200 kWh of electricity, equivalent to the power storage of 30 electric vehicles. A full charge can ensure that the electric ship travels 120 kilometers, greatly reducing noise and achieving zero emissions. During the transformation, the technicians overcame technical barriers such as the ship's DC micro-grid system, filling the gap in the field of all-electric transformation of large fuel oil cargo ships.
State Grid will continue to promote the electrical transformation of ships this year. The successful development of a 3,000-ton electric cargo ship also means that more than 80% of the Yangtze River cargo ships can be transformed within six months. In recent years, Jiangsu has continued to promote the electrical transformation of cargo ships, tugboats, cruise ships, and official ships, while making every effort to promote the installation of on-shore power system for ships calling at the ports so that the water pollution control of inland waterways and the application of green energy in water transportation have achieved good results.
