East China’s Jiangsu province reported grain production growth in 2021 by continuing to rank foremost in the national assessment of grain security.
In 2021, Jiangsu purchased 20.307 billion catties of wheat, ranking second in the country. As of January 10, Jiangsu had stored 16.937 billion catties of rice, including 13.185 billion catties of japonica rice and 3.752 billion catties of indica rice.
During the summer harvest, Jiangsu Agricultural Development Bank issued 17.7 billion yuan in loans, ranking first in the country. During the autumn harvest, as of January 15, 13.9 billion yuan of loans had been issued, ranking second in the country.
Large and medium-sized cities such as Nanjing, Wuxi, Suzhou, etc. have reserved enough grain and oil for 15 days, and other regions have reserved reserves of grain and oil for no less than 10 days.
Jiangsu will continue to optimize the structure of the grain industry, enrich the variety of grain and oil products, promote the grain industry in Jiangsu from the low end of the value chain to the middle and high end, and comprehensively improve the quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the grain industry.
