With the approach of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the Olympic spirit is stimulating the snow and ice sports fever in Jiangsu amid the intensifying atmosphere of the Winter Olympics.
Covering an area of 60 mu with a total snow-making area of 15,000 square meters, the ancient canal ski resort in Huai'an city has turned out to be a huge magnet for the local people.
"It’s a great fun and I think it is a very free sport without any restrictions," said a skiing enthusiast.
Whether it is a beginner or a skier, everyone felt the unique charm of winter sports in the zero-distance contact with ice and snow.
From now to the end of the Winter Olympics, the local authority will open some training courses for free and carry out a number of public welfare promotion activities, which is intended to allow more people to experience the fun of ice and snow sports and promote the development of mass ice and snow activities.
In the ice and snow sports on campus event held in Nanjing, the ice hockey team and the young athletes of the figure skating team from Nanjing Xincheng Elementary School gave a wonderful ice show.
Citizens of Changzhou put on ski suits, stepped on snowboards, and held ski poles to enjoy the silky smoothness on the snow.
"The Beijing Winter Olympics will be held soon. For us sports enthusiasts and ski enthusiasts, we are proud of our country and our athletes from the bottom of our hearts," said a skiing enthusiast.
"The number of skiers has been increasing, indicating that the local people's enthusiasm for ice and snow is getting higher and higher," said Shi Jinghui, Manager of Changzhou Longfeng Valley Ski Resort.
In recent years, Jiangsu has encouraged and guided social forces to install ice and snow making facilities, introduce ice and snow imitation technology, and issue ice and snow consumption coupons for four consecutive years to create conditions for the development of ice and snow sports.
Jiangsu has built 45 ice and snow sports venues with an area of over 550 thousand square meters. In the meantime, Jiangsu has 18 national youth campus ice and snow sports schools and more than 150 schools across the province offer sessions related to ice and snow sports such as skating, ice hockey and roller skating, land curling, and land ice hockey.
