The first international freight train on China-Laos railway departed from Nanjing on Wednesday morning to head for Vientiane, the capital of Laos. This train is the first international freight train bound for Laos from the Yangtze River Delta region after the opening of the entire China-Laos Railway on December 3rd.
The train will travel through Yunnan and is expected to arrive in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, in 6 days.
This train loaded with 76 standard containers of cargo departs from the Yaohuamen Railway Freight Yard of Nanjing Freight Center. With a total value of nearly 3 million US dollars and a cargo weight of over 600 tons, the train is loaded with distance education engineering materials produced by enterprises in Jiangsu and surrounding areas.
The freight train is also loaded with building materials, cables, electrical appliances, auto parts and other key materials donated by China in support of Laos' infrastructure construction and economic and social development.
The operation of the China-Laos railway will greatly reduce the time for cargo transportation between the two countries and cut back on logistics costs.
Jiangsu International Freight Train Co., Ltd. will coordinate the operation of trains and promote the regular operation of international freight trains on the China-Laos Railway from Nanjing to Vientiane.
