Jiangsu hits record high transportation infrastructure investment in first three quarters

East China’s Jiangsu province hit a record high transportation infrastructure investment in the first three quarters by investing more than 140 billion yuan to give a strong impetus to the province’s sustained economic growth.

The bridge erecting machine hoisted on Tuesday the last hole of the 900-ton box girder on the piers 165 to 166 of the Baimao River Bridge on the South Yangtze River Intercity Railway, marking the connection of the Changshu-Taicang section of the South Yangtze River Intercity Railway. The South Yangtze River Intercity Railway is expected to be completed and opened to traffic ahead of schedule by the end of next year.

Jiangsu is also accelerating high-speed rail projects that connects Shanghai, Suzhou and Huzhou, Nanjing and Huai'an, and the second phase of the Shanghai-Nantong high speed railway. 

In the first three quarters, Jiangsu reported a rapid growth in transportation infrastructure investment.

As of the end of September, 13 of the 18 key projects scheduled for construction in 2021 have got underway. Jiangsu had invested 141.26 billion yuan in roads, railways, water transport and aviation, an increase of 6.2% year-on-year.
