East China’s Jiangsu province reported surging retail sales during the week-long National Day holiday that ended on Thursday. Let’s take a close look.
A shopping mall in Nanjing witnessed surging flow of customers during the holiday over its newly-launched 160 thousand-square-meter shopping center and 40 thousand-square-meter open block.
More than 300 brands were promoted in the mall and 10% of them made their first ever appearance in Nanjing, stimulating sales and passenger flow growth during the National Day holiday.
"The shopping center is located at the doorstep and provides one-stop service. I saw some new food and beverage brands and some new stores.The overall feeling is quite good," said a Nanjing resident.
"During the National Day holiday the shopping plaza received 800 thousand customers and reported sales of more than 62 million yuan.The post-epidemic market saw growing customer desire and the quality of consumption has also been continuously improved," said Jin Linli, Operations Manager of Wuyue Plaza, Jianye District, Nanjing.
During the National Day golden-week holiday, nearly 100 thousand enterprises in Jiangsu organized 107 consumption promotion activities in automobiles, home appliances, furniture, and catering.
Gold and jewellery products found widespread popularity in shopping malls in Huai'an, Suqian, Lianyungang, and Yancheng.
More than 300 auto models, including 56 domestic, joint venture brands and foreign high-end brands appeared at the Taizhou Auto Expo. Ranging from traditional fuel vehicles to new energy vehicles, the diversified options met the needs of different levels of consumption.
The film market also reported booming sales during the holiday as a slew of new films premiered, spearheaded by the epic film Battle of Chosin Reservoir.
The latest statistics from the Department of Commerce of Jiangsu Province show that during the National Day holiday this year, Jiangsu reported retail sales of 13.14 billion yuan, with an average daily sales increase of 14.9% year-on-year, an increase of 18.7% over 2019, and an average growth of 9% on a two-year term.
In the meantime, 190 million yuan in consumer vouchers were issued throughout Jiangsu, boosting consumer spending by 1.3 billion yuan and further stimulating the province’s consumer market.
