The high-speed rail will connect all prefecture-level cities and about 90% of the counties in the province, according to the Railway Development and Mid- and Long-term Road Network Layout Plan of Jiangsu Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
By 2025, Jiangsu will increase about 1,000 kilometers of railway mileage, bringing the total mileage to 5,200 kilometers.
The mileage of high-speed railways will reach approximately 3,000 kilometers, connecting all the prefecture-level cities and about 90% of the counties.
The railway connectivity between Nanjing, the capital of the province, with the country’s major urban clusters, the central cities of the Yangtze River Delta and the prefecture-level cities will be reduced to 4-6 hours, 1 hour, and 1.5 hours.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Jiangsu will actively plan a radial high-speed maglev network from the Yangtze River Delta to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban metropolitan areas.
Efforts will be made to pilot the Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed maglev rail and create a half-hour rail connectivity between Shanghai and Nanjing.
During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Jiangsu will also promote the construction of urban rail transit to better satisfy the daily travel of urban residents.
