Citywide testing of 9.3 million residents in Nanjing has been underway since Wednesday. Lu Wei, Deputy Director, Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, gives answers on some key issues concerning the necessity of the nuclear acid testing.
The newly confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nanjing were discovered during regular nucleic acid testing of key people.
In this regard, Lu Wei said that the COVID19 virus is very cunning, and sometimes the infection is very hidden. Carrying out COVID-19 nucleic acid testing is therefore of great significance to the realization of scientific and precise prevention and control.

In the recent hot weather, Lu Wei reminded residents that when conducting nucleic acid tests, they should prepare sunscreen products and drink enough water, salt and minerals.
At the same time, masks must be worn throughout the entire process, and a safe distance of more than one meter must be maintained to reduce the risk of cross-infection, Lu Wei said.
