China's first dynamic positioning shuttle tanker, "Beihai New Hope", was delivered in Qidong on Tuesday morning, marking a major breakthrough in China's marine manufacturing industry.
"Beihai New Hope" was developed, designed and constructed by Qidong COSCO Shipping Offshore.
The ship is 137 meters long, 22.8 meters wide, 12.5 meters deep, with a cargo tank capacity of 18 thousand cubic meters, and a design speed of 13 knots.
The ship is equipped with a highly automated central control system and power station management system. The total power station capacity is about 6 MW, which exceeds the capacity of a conventional 100 thousand-ton oil tanker power station.
The project took less than 11 months from the start of construction to delivery, saving 40% of the time compared to conventional tanker construction and setting a record for the shortest construction period in the shuttle tanker industry.

In the past
China did not have a dedicated shuttle tanker
and often used tugboats
to secure ordinary tankers
for transportation operations
between offshore oil fields
Equipped with a bow loading system
and a dynamic positioning system
our tanker fills the gap in China
and greatly improves the efficiency
of oil and gas turnover
and reduces operating costs
with completely independent intellectual property rights
"Beihai New Hope" is the first dynamic positioning shuttle tanker to be independently operated by a Chinese shipowner and to provide transportation services in the CNOOC system.
In response to the special sea conditions of 1,500 meters deep in the operating sea area, the ship has been specially developed to provide oil and gas collection and transportation services for the oil platform, satisfying the need to operate in the South China Sea against wind force 7. Upon its operation, the tanker will be of great significance for realizing the efficient use of natural gas resources in the South China Sea, and will help China become the second country in the world with independent development and operation of offshore high temperature and high pressure oil and gas.
