Efforts should be made to pursue production safety and safeguard the security of people’s lives and property, with accountability measures in place, according to a provincial teleconference on production safety held Thursday in Nanjing.
Wu Zhenglong, governor and director of the Provincial Work Safety Commission, called for greater efforts to strengthen production safety by following the important instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, Vice Premier Liu He, and State Councilors Wang Yong and Zhao Kezhi.
The provincial teleconference on production safety was held in the wake of the national teleconference on production safety.
Wu demanded tougher measures to strengthen production safety by implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions, further enhancing political awareness and strengthening political responsibilities from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
He stressed putting the security of people’s lives first and doing a better job in achieving safe production through a strict responsibility system, as well as enhancing publicity and education to increase the public’s safety awareness.
Precautions should be taken to guard against various major and catastrophic incidents, the Governor said, calling on related departments to draw lessons from previous incidents, and pay more attention to preventing and defusing security risks in the face of the current situation for safe production.
The Governor urged more efforts to strengthen work and production safety by accurately understanding the new development stage, acting on the new development philosophy and accelerating the establishment of the new development paradigm to drive high-quality development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
He reiterated that production safety is of utmost importance and greater efforts should be made to strengthen production safety by increasing the sense of urgency and ensure that major risks and hidden dangers are cleared of so as to create a safe and stable environment for celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China.
