Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu provincial committee, called for further efforts to enhance the supervision of procuratorates' work procedures by following the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era and fulfill the procuratorates' responsibilities so as to make new and greater contribution to the province’s realization of taking the lead and ranking the foremost in the country. He made the remarks at the 18th provincial meeting on procuratorates' work held Wednesday at the Provincial Procuratorator College.
Lou Qinjian spoke highly of the achievements made in the procuratorates' work across the province in recent years.
He said the rule of law is an important footing in the fulfillment of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on the work of Jiangsu so that the province will take the lead and ranking the foremost in the country in the modernization drive.
Noting that the procuratorial organs shoulder very important responsibilities in the construction of a new Jiangsu, the CPC provincial chief asked the province’s procuratorial system to resolutely implement Xi Jinping’s Thought on the Rule of Law by resolutely implementing the General Secretary’s instructions and requirements on procuratorial work and the development of Jiangsu and performing duties with stricter standards so as to provide a more solid legal guarantee for the development of the province's "14th Five-Year Plan".
Lou Qinjian hoped that procuratorial organs will practice the people-centered development philosophy, adapt to the new requirements of the people for democracy, the rule of law, fairness, justice, security, and the environment, and strive to provide diversified, multi-level and multi-faceted services to enhance the public’s sense of the rule of law.
Lou Qinjian emphasized that the procuratorial organs should emphasize the party’s leadership throughout all aspects of the work, strengthen the study and education of party’s history, inherit the red gene, and consolidate and expand a clean political ecology from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
The Supreme People's Procuratorate or SPP issued in September last year a document seeking measures to further strengthen the monitoring and supervision of the procuratorial agencies' work in handling criminal cases.
The SPP said in a statement Thursday that the document listed the key areas for supervision with detailed stipulations covering the procuratorates' work of case investigation, arrest approval and prosecution procedures.
The document underlines the time limits, use of compulsory measures and management of properties involved in relevant cases during these procedures as areas that need careful scrutiny.
It also calls for stepped-up supervision of procedures that matter for the protection of litigation rights of relevant parties and the rights of lawyers.
