Local farmers in Wuxi have begun harvesting the early-ripe variety of the Yangshan honey peaches around the end of May.

One of the early-ripe varieties named Qingshan Yuhualu hit the market on June 2, according to Dai Huijun, an experienced peach farmer in Yangshan town, adding that this year's peaches entered the market about seven days earlier than usual.

Dai owns a peach farm spanning six hectares. He said that more than 70 percent of his peaches are entering their harvesting season, with their sugar content closely equivalent to a Sprite.

Qingshan Yuhualu Peaches, which are about 150 grams each, have a dense flesh, rich juice, sweet flavor, and aroma. The other two most famous types of Yangshan honey peaches, Baifeng Peach and Hujing Peach, will be available starting in late-June and mid-July respectively, according to Dai.

The price of this year's honey peaches is expected to slightly increase, while the fruit will taste much better than that of last year thanks to suitable climate and precipitation this year, said Dai.

Officials from Yangshan town said that more online events will also be held this year to promote local honey peaches on e-commerce platforms.

Renowned throughout the country for being remarkably sweet, succulent, and tender, the Wuxi Yangshan Honey Peach enjoys the reputation as one of East China's tastiest fruit.
