With the theme “The Future of Museums: Recover and Reimagine”, International Museum Day 2021 was celebrated by museums across Jiangsu Province with varied events to amplify their influence on the public.
As the main venue of this year’s Museum Day, Nantong Museum organized a series of events titled “Night at the Museum”, which integrated the architecture and historical features of the museum itself. The events consist of music and dancing performances, opera, intangible cultural heritage showcases and cultural fairs.
In order to allow more visitors to experience the beauty of relics, museums in the province introduced ceramic restoration, DIY bamboo production and other activities, so that participants can experience the embedded spirit of craftsmanship. Lianyungang Museum also moved its activities by Huaguo Mountain, where children got hands-on experience of archaeological excavation. Changzhou Wujin Museum joined hands with Yancheng Chunqiu Amusement Park to present ancient architecture and history through animation and electronic music.
It is reported that during this year's Museum Day, Jiangsu Province held over 300 diversified exhibitions and promotion activities. Up to now, the province has a total of 314 registered museums.
