An exhibition of an epic scroll of the Grand Canal of China opened at the National Museum of China on Sunday.
The scroll is 135 meters long and 3 meters wide with 43 meters of figurines, 64 meters of landscape and 28 meters of calligraphy and inscription. The creation of the scroll took two years and was completed by 15 calligraphers, painters and seal cutters from provinces and cities along the Grand Canal. By incorporating the Grand Canal into an entirety, the artists used brush and ink as the medium to depict the long history and modern glory of the Grand Canal from multiple dimensions such as time, space, humanities, and nature.
