Wang Yongqing, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, went on an inspection tour in Jiangsu from Sunday to Wednesday to solicit opinions on the drafting of the country’s Social Assistance Act. Lou Qinjian met with the inspection team. Huang Lixin was present during the inspection tour.
During its tour in Jiangsu, the CPPCC National Committee inspection team visited nursing homes, welfare centers and assistance stations in Yangzhou and Nanjing where they exchanged views with and solicited opinions from officials at the grassroots communities.
Wang Yongqing pointed out that in September 2019, General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches on social assistance have pointed out the direction and provided follow-up for strengthening and improving social assistance work and improving the social assistance system.
The vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee noted that in recent years, party committees and governments at all levels in Jiangsu have conscientiously implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and the policies and decisions of the Party Central Committee, made active exploration and innovative efforts, and adopted a series of effective measures to improve the level of social assistance and enhance people's sense of gain, happiness, and security.
He spoke highly of Jiangsu's continuous efforts to promote assistance practices and accumulate valuable experience so that it has played an important role in improving the country’s social assistance system, building a social assistance system with Chinese characteristics, eliminating difficulties for the needy, and providing the disadvantaged with reasonable and safe expectations so as to expand assistance methods, strengthen the participation of social forces, and contribute to the formulation of the social assistance law.
Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, said that Jiangsu will thoroughly study and implement the important speeches and instructions made by General Secretary Xi Jinping on social assistance, implement new development concepts, promote high-quality development, and build a new development pattern so as to promote the construction of a new Jiangsu to a new height.
He remarked that Jiangsu will strengthen social assistance and advance social assistance legislation by giving better play to the important role of the CPPCC, and promoting the CPPCC at all levels in the province to make new and greater contributions to the 14th five-year plan period and new journey of modernization.
Huang Lixin, chairman of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said that the Provincial CPPCC will continue to study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches on social assistance, and will take the initiative to pool wisdom and contribute strength to the long-term effect of social assistance and rule of law.
