Rail transit system has become an indispensable part of our lives. Suzhou Rail Transit (SRT) has recently made progress on various fronts. Let’s have a look!
Line 2, 4 and 7 (extension)
SRT is planning to build Line 2 (north extension), Line 4 (extension) and Line 7 (north extension and branch line), including up to 30.3 kilometers of rails and 17 stations, according to the project plan.
The extended line of SRT Line 2 starts from Aigehao Road, Weitang Town (渭塘镇爱格豪路) and connects with Line 2 at Qihe Station (骑河站). SRT Line 4’s extended line starts from Guantang Road, Weitang Town (渭塘镇观塘路) and links up with Line 4 at Longdaobang Station (龙道浜站).
The north extended line of SRT Line 7 starts from Chunfeng Road, Huangdai Town (黄埭镇春丰路) and is connected to Line 7, which is currently under construction, at Moyang Station (莫阳路). And Line 7 branch line starts from Zhongjing Road, Beiqiao Town (北桥镇中泾路) and joins its main line at Shigang Road (石港路).
Line 5
SRT Line 5 is 44.1 kilometers in length and has a total of 34 stations. It runs from Jisanzhongxin Station in Wuzhong District (吴中区集散中心站) to Yangchenghu Station in SIP (苏州工业园区阳澄湖站). It went into trial operation in February this year and is currently under simulated operation. According to the operation plan, SRT Line 5 will be open to traffic in June, 2021.
Line S1
SRT Line S1 will become the first rail transit line in Suzhou to be interconnected with Shanghai Metro. It starts from Weiting Station in SIP (工业园区唯亭站) and ends in Huaqiao Station in Kunshan (昆山花桥站), where it is connected to Shanghai Metro Line 11. The whole journey may take around 50 minutes and the line is expected to be put into trial operation at the end of 2023.
