East China’s Jiangsu province has revved up the construction of major investment projects and ensured their smooth progress through every possible effort so as to ensure a flying start in the new year. JSBC has more.

The back cover concrete pouring construction was completed recently on the caisson of Pier 5 of the main bridge foundation of Changzhou-Taizhou Yangtze River Bridge.

The caisson of Pier 5 is 72 meters high and consumes 18,000 tons of steel and 42,000 cubic meters of concrete, which is equivalent to filling 17 standard swimming pools.

The construction party invested a total of 38 sets of intelligent equipment, sinking an average of 0.45 meters per day, creating the fastest record of sinking a large caisson in a silty clay layer.

As an important arterial railway for accelerating the integration of northern Jiangsu into the Nanjing metropolitan area, the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway will cut the travel time between the two places to one hour.

Workers were seen erecting continuous beam sections on a 15-meter-high platform.

The Jiangsu section of the Nanjing-Huai'an Intercity Railway is about 156 kilometers long while part of the rail track will be laid in Tianchang County of Anhui province. The railway will be designed with a speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
