Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu province, spoke highly of the work report of the standing committee of the National People’s Congress, the work report of the Supreme People's Court and the work report of the Supreme Procuratorate when joining a panel deliberation on Monday with lawmakers from Jiangsu.
Wu said that the work report delivered by Chairman Li Zhanshu at the annual legislative session has interpreted the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, demonstrated new results, reflected new changes, and embodied new philosophy.
The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress has strengthened political awareness, centered on the major tasks, served the overall situation, and taken the initiative so that is has implemented the people-centered development philosophy under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the governor said.
Wu Zhenglong remarked that since the previous NPC annual session in May 2020, the NPC Standing Committee has aligned its work with the overall work of the Party and the State, performed its duty in accordance with the Constitution and laws and made new progress in various aspects of its work.
The CPC provincial chief remarked that the NPC standing committee has promoted the implementation of the Constitution by safeguarding the authority of the Constitution and improving related laws, according to the group discussion.
Wu spoke highly of the achievements made by the NPC’s standing committee by accelerating legislation in key areas while major progress has achieved in legislation in fields such as public health, national security, environmental protection and social governance.
By effectively exercising its supervision power, the committee has promoted the work of the government, the National Supervisory Commission, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, Wu said.
He hoped that under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, local people’s congresses at all levels will comply with the people’s calls and expectations for a better life and the construction of the rule of law, and ensure the legal guarantee for the modernization of the national governance system and governance capabilities and make greater contributions to the great practice of reform and opening up and socialist modernization in the new era.
Noting that he is in favor of the work report of the Supreme People's Court and the work report of the Supreme Procuratorate, the governor hoped that the judicial organs will give better play to their functions and roles so as to enhance the people’s sense of happiness and security, maintain national political security and social stability, promote epidemic prevention and control, and economic and social development under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law and ensure a good start in the 14th five-year plan period.
At a plenary meeting of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress, two reports on the work of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate were delivered for deliberations.
