Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council, China’s cabinet, joined panel discussion with lawmakers from east China’s Jiangsu province at the ongoing annual session of the national people’s congress, China’s top legislature.
Li, who is also member of the standing committee of the CPC Central Committee, delivered an important speech at the panel discussion that is presided over by Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial chief.
Li Keqiang said that under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, Jiangsu made new achievements in economic and social development last year with many aspects of work ranking at the forefront of the country.
He hoped that Jiangsu will adhere to the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, make continuous efforts to forge ahead, and give better play to its role of being a major economic powerhouse in consolidating the foundation of national economic stability and restoration and promoting high-quality development.
The premier demanded that more efforts will be made to deepen reforms and expand opening up, continue to optimize the business environment, and further stimulate the vitality of market players, further reduce logistics and other costs, and fuel new growth momentum so as to continuously improve people's livelihood and well-being in the course of development, increase investment in education and medical services, improve basic public service capabilities in rural areas and grassroots communities, and lay the foundation for long-term development.
Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, said that Jiangsu will earnestly study and implement the major decisions and policies of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, implement the spirit of the Premier’s important speech, and ensure a good start in the 14th Five-Year Plan period so as to better serve and support the country’s overall development.
Governor Wu Zhenglong reported on the key tasks of Jiangsu's economic and social development last year and put forward suggestions on the development of the "14th Five-Year Plan".
Deputies to the NPC Dai Yuan, Lu Yongquan, Cui Genliang and Wu Huifang put forth their opinions concerning such issues as accurately understanding the new development stage, acting on the new development philosophy and accelerating the establishment of the new development paradigm, promoting high-quality development to achieve stability, accelerating the development of the coastal economy, speeding up the construction of a modern integrated transportation system, private enterprises’ necessity to keep abreast of the world's frontier technologies, and promoting rural revitalization.
Ji Bingxuan and Cai Dafeng, both vice Chairmen of the standing committee of the 13th NPC, were present during the panel discussion.
Also present at the panel discussion were Xiao Jie, State Councilor and Secretary-General of the State Council, He Lifeng, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, Xiao Yaqing, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Li Xiaopeng, Minister of Transport, Li Guoying, Minister of Water Resources, Huang Shouhong, Director of the Research Office of the State Council, and Li Baorong, Deputy Secretary-General of the State Council.
