Jiangsu provincial government formally issued the newly revised Regulations on Volunteer Services in Jiangsu Province Tuesday morning. The regulations set March 5 as Jiangsu Volunteer Day for the first time, and proposed the establishment of voluntary service time savings system, strengthening the personal protection of volunteers.
The Regulations on Voluntary Service will come into effect on March 5, 2021. The Regulations encourages and supports natural persons with specialized knowledge and skills in medicine, rescue and psychological intervention to register as volunteers, and encourages state organs, unofficial organizations, enterprises, institutions and other social bodies to establish volunteer service teams. The establishment of voluntary service feedback system is greatly encouraged so that volunteers can save their volunteer service time through volunteer service record and enjoy priority to get volunteer service when needed.
"The Platform of Jiangsu Volunteer Service will be online and into effect on Mar. 5, The volunteers could help themselves print the service record."said by Zhou Hengxin, Deputy Director of Civil Affairs Department of Jiangsu Province.
A system design of volunteer personal safety insurance has been formed on the focus of “strengthening the personal protection of volunteers". The "Regulations" proposes that volunteers should buy personal accident insurance, forming a perfect voluntary service insurance system. The Regulations also prohibits the organization of minors to participate in rescue and disaster relief and other voluntary service activities that may cause personal danger.
It is reported that the province's real-name registered volunteers have been more than 16 million, and the voluntary service organizations have been over 4000.
