The high-speed railway between Lianyungang and Xuzhou will be put into operation on February 8.
Being an important part of the land bridge passage of the national “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed railway network, the 180-km-long Lianyungang-Xuzhou high-speed railway starts from Lianyungang City in the east and Xuzhou City in the west.
The 26.95-billion-yuan railway is designed with a speed of 350 km per hour with six stations along the route.
By intersecting with major railways such as the ones connecting Beijing and Shanghai, Zhengzhou and Xuzhou, Xuzhou and Yancheng, Qingdao and Yancheng and Lianyungang and Zhenjiang, the Lianyungang-Xuzhou high-speed railway will put an end to the fact that there is no high-speed rail in Pizhou, Xinyi and Donghai counties.
It will also link up the high-speed railway from Lianyungang to Urumqi in west China to come up with a 3422-km-long land passage that serves as the new Eurasian continental corridor to give a stronger impetus to the BRI development.
