Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, stressed further improvement of people’s livelihood during the upcoming spring festival holiday. He made the remarks when going on an inspection tour in Yancheng city on Wednesday.
Wu Zhenglong visited the new home of Mao De, a veteran party member, to learn about his family's income and his physical condition. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Party Central Committee have always been concerned about the financially-strapped party members and the needy people, adding that everyone must strengthen their confidence that their life will definitely get better year by year.
When visiting Chen Xiaolong’s home, Wu said people’s life will become better in the future due to the party and government’s preferential policies.
Shen Dali comes from a low-income family of four. His wife and two daughters are physically handicapped.
Wu Zhenglong told him that the party and the government’s assistance will help him lift out of poverty.
The Governor also asked the local officials to take good care of the needy people ahead of the spring festival.
Zhang Ronggui, a veteran soldier who took part in the construction of the Chengdu-Kunming railway in the 1950s, recalled his heroic days when Governor Wu paid him a visit at his home.
88-year-old Cao Hongying is a veteran party member who devoted to revolutionary work before 1949. 84-year-old Cang Gonghui is the former village party secretary.
Wu Zhenglong greeted the two senior party members and expressed his gratitude for their commitment to the party’s cause over the past decades.
