Lou Qinjian, deputy to the Provincial People's Congress, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, joined panel discussion with lawmakers from the Suzhou delegation Tuesday afternoon.
Lou Qinjian said that in the past year, under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the people of Jiangsu worked hard to win the victory in epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, made decisive achievements in promoting a decisive victory and a high level of building a well-off society in an all-round way, and the construction of a new Jiangsu has achieved significant phased results.
He said as the largest economic powerhouse in Jiangsu, Suzhou has actively responded to changes and achieved remarkable results in promoting high-quality development despite the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic, as is evidenced by its total economic volume of 2 trillion yuan, making important contributions to the overall development of the province.
Lou Qinjian hoped that Suzhou will promote the emancipation of mind, follow the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the General Secretary’s important speech during his inspection tour in Jiangsu, and better guide the practice of modernization.
The CPC provincial chief urged Suzhou to make greater efforts to build the city into an international metropolis, focus on the development reality and the needs of the people, integrate into the higher-quality and integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, and achieve systematic improvement in urban development.
He demanded further efforts to promote technological innovation and technological self-reliance, develop the real economy, comprehensively promote the development of urban and rural integration, focus on the modernization goal of building shared prosperity for all people, enhance the ecological, economic and service functions of agriculture, optimize and enhance the landscape of rural construction, add poetic residence and humanistic feelings to modern Suzhou, and to blaze a new path of urban-rural integrated development.
He hoped that Suzhou will creatively implement the decisions and policies of the central and provincial party committees, respond to risks and challenges, and take the lead and set an example in the new journey of modernization in the province.
