East China’s Jiangsu province has issued the "Implementation Opinions on High-quality Promotion of Digital Village Construction" in order to better support the implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, accelerate the in-depth integration of informatization and agricultural and rural modernization.
The "Opinions" proposes to implement five major actions including "rural digital infrastructure upgrading and leapfrogging" to further liberate and develop digital productivity.
In order to consolidate the foundation of digital village construction, the "Opinions" clarified that it is necessary to accelerate the expansion of access networks in rural areas, in-depth coverage of 4G networks, and orderly promote the construction and application of 5G networks; and focus on promoting the digital and intelligent transformation of rural infrastructure such as water conservancy, highways, and cold chain logistics.
The "Opinions" clearly defined the need to improve rural public health information services, build a number of Internet hospitals, and vigorously promote the full coverage of telemedicine services in towns and townships, accelerate the informatization of rural education, and promote normal on-demand applications such as air classrooms with famous teachers and urban and rural paired interactive classrooms to help rural schools teach subjects according to the national curriculum.
By 2025, Jiangsu will popularize 4G in rural areas, with full coverage of 5G signals in counties and key towns, and accelerate the development of rural digital economy to ensure that the construction of digitalized villages will rank at the forefront of China.
