The Yancheng-Nantong high-speed railway, opened to traffic Wednesday morning. Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, attended opening ceremony of the railway that is an important part of China’s coastal high-speed network.
Wu Zhenglong requested that under the guidance of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, people in Yancheng and Nantong should thoroughly study and implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions during his recent inspection tour in Jiangsu, practice the new development concept, build a new development pattern, and implement the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Yangtze River Delta integrated development, accelerate the high-quality development of railways, improve efficient operation, continue to meet the people's yearning for a better life, and provide transportation convenience for building a new development pattern.
The 157-kilometer Yancheng-Nantong railway passes through Dafeng District, Dongtai City, Hai’an County, and Rugao City in the south, ending at Nantong West Station, with a design speed of 350 km/h
Yancheng-Nantong railway is connected with Xuzhou-Suqian-Huai'an-Yancheng high-speed railway and Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong high-speed railway, forming an important diversion channel for Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway to the south of Xuzhou.
It is of great significance to improving the overall transportation capacity and transportation quality of the coastal railway corridors, and promoting the development of higher-quality integration in the Yangtze River Delta.
