The Ninth Congress of Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Circles opened Wednesday in Nanjing. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, addressed the congress.
Lou Qinjian said that in recent years, the Jiangsu philosophy and social sciences circle has strengthened theoretical research around consolidating the guiding position of Marxism, focusing on reforming from the roots, building a new type of think-tank around serving Jiangsu’s reform and development, and actively providing advice on political resources, and promoting academic innovation and building around the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics so that important progress has been made in the construction of an academic brand and a strong social science province.
Lou Qinjian pointed out that the new stage, new journey, and new mission provide a broad stage for philosophy and social science workers to display their intelligence and take an active role.
He called on philosophy and social science workers in Jiangsu to implement and understand the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era so as to enhance political, theoretical, and emotional identification, and transform it into a sober theoretical consciousness, firm political belief, and scientific thinking method.
Lou Qinjian emphasized that Jiangsu has a profound foundation of philosophy and social sciences and can contribute more to the independence and self-reliance of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.
He hoped that philosophy and social sciences should be compatible with the level of Jiangsu’s economic and social development, and Jiangsu’s status in the overall development of China, and become an important symbol of Jiangsu’s cultural soft power and comprehensive competitiveness so as to make Jiangsu’s contributions to the construction of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics, Chinese style and Chinese manner.
Noting that philosophy and social sciences are the science of humanistic pragmatism, the CPC provincial chief hoped that the philosophy and social science workers in Jiangsu will give full play to the role of think-tanks, provide excellent answers to the major propositions put forward for Jiangsu by General Secretary Xi Jinping, summarize the successful experience of Jiangsu's development, study the outstanding existence problems and contribute wisdom to starting a new journey of modernization.
Lou Qinjian emphasized that philosophy and social science workers shoulder the mission and responsibility of enlightening ideas, cultivating sentiments, and warming the soul so that they must have true feelings, true knowledge, and genuine character, set an example with lofty aspirations, good morals, and noble sentiments, and serve the country and the people.
