The curators of 32 museums along the Grand Canal gathered in Nanjing Museum on Saturday to witness the establishment of the Grand Canal Museum Alliance.
The members of the Grand Canal Museum Alliance include the Palace Museum, Nanjing Museum, as well as various provincial museums along the Grand Canal and special museums related to the canal.
With the establishment of the Grand Canal Museum Alliance, provinces along the Grand Canal will also set up special funds to build a number of core exhibition halls and specialty exhibition sites in the Grand Canal National Cultural Park. In the future, tourists can enjoy more convenient and integrated tour services through such an alliance.
The city of Yangzhou is accelerating the construction on the China Grand Canal Museum with the main construction of the museum completed. 11 thematic exhibitions will be set up, including "The Grand Canal-China's World Cultural Heritage", "Canals and Nature", "Intangible Cultural Heritage on Both Sides of the Canal", and "World-renowned Canals and Canal Cities". The visitors will be able to conduct a "dialog across time and space" with the canal through various methods such as visits and experiences.
