Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang will launch a joint river and lake chief mechanism in a bid to rein in water pollution in the Yangtze River Delta, according to a plan on the green and integrated development of the trans-regional water bodies in the Yangtze River Delta.
According to the plan, 47 water bodies in the three province-level regions will be included in the joint river and lake chief mechanism in a bid to ensure the most stringent ecological control under the maximum standards.
The water bodies include the Taipu River, the Dianshan River, the Fenhu Lake and the Yuandang Lake.
Under the program, the trans-regional river such as the Taipu Lake will become an inland river in the demonstration zone.
