East China’s Jiangsu province has taken measures to cut back on grain waste in the process of drying, storage and transport. A recent report "Investigation and Evaluation Technology Research on Post-production Loss and Waste of Grain" shows that China reports a post-production loss rate of 15.69%. The report was released by Nanjing University of Finance and Economics and the National Institute of Grain and Material Reserves.

China Grain Storage Depot in Nanjing has started to supply the market with more grains.

The staff recorded the inbound and outbound quantities in detail to ensure that the grain loss of each warehouse is controlled within 1%through this difference comparison.

Temperature control and insect pests tend to cause food loss in the storage of grains.

In recent years, China Grain Stores Nanjing Depot has installed 140 temperature sensors in each granary to monitor the temperature changes inside the grain pile in real time.

The grain depot has also promoted the application of nitrogen gas conditioning technology, which not only delays changes in grain quality, but also greatly improves insect control and insecticidal effects.

In order to reduce the loss of stored grains, in recent years, the grain depots in Jiangsu have relied on low-temperature and green grain storage technologies, and promoted new technologies and equipment that can cool down and control insects, such as nitrogen atmosphere control and online pest monitoring.

Jiangsu has built more than 800 informatized grain depots, accounting for more than 80%, improving its ability to guarantee food security.

In the process of grain transportation, many processing companies have chosen better-closed logistics vehicles to transport grain in an effort to reduce losses.
