East China’s Jiangsu province staged a theatrical performance Saturday evening to celebrate the upcoming mid-autumn festival. Present at the performance were Ren Zhenhe, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Ma Xin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu.
The party was kicked off in a multi-drama opera Prelude to Water Melody.
Peking opera performing artist Shang Changrong, Peking opera martial artist Xi Zhonglu, Huangmei opera master Yang Jun, and master opera performers in Jiangsu such as Shi Xiaomei, Wang Fang, and Zhou Dongliang, demonstrated the latest achievements in the inheritance and development of the operas in Jiangsu in a bid to salute to the great force behind the COVID-19 fight and the poverty reduction campaign.
Theatrical performances featuring COVID-19 fight and the poverty alleviation campaign were staged throughout the gala in different opera forms.
It is the 13th year for the province to stage the mid-autumn theatrical performance.
This cultural project with the purpose of promoting traditional art has become an annual high-level opera art event in Jiangsu.
