Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, met Tuesday in Nanjing with Yutaka Yokoi, the Japanese ambassador to China.

On behalf of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Lou Qinjian welcomed Yutaka Yokoi's visit and appreciated his contribution to promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

Lou Qinjian said that Jiangsu has always attached great importance to its cooperation with Japan, adding that in May last year, he led a friendly delegation to visit Japan, exchanged views with economic and trade institutions, local sister cities and multinational enterprises in Japan, and reached a number of cooperation consensus.

During the epidemic period, the people of Jiangsu and Japan helped each other, Lou said, adding that Jiangsu helped Japanese-funded companies resume work and production, and donated epidemic prevention materials to sister cities and the headquarters of foreign companies in Jiangsu. Since the beginning of this year, foreign companies, including Japanese companies, has increased their investment in Jiangsu.

Lou Qinjian noted that Japanese companies have a broad space for development and are facing many new major opportunities in Jiangsu.

He remarekd that Jiangsu will implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further promote pragmatic cooperation and friendly exchanges with all walks of life in Japan, strengthen local government and non-governmental exchanges, and make new contributions to building Sino-Japanese relations that meet the requirements of the new era.

Yutaka Yokoi thanked Jiangsu Province for its support and assistance to Japan's epidemic prevention, and the speedy resumption of work and production of the Japanese enterprise in Jiangsu.

He hoped that the two sides will further intensify friendly exchanges and deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields such as education and culture.
