East China’s Jiangsu province celebrated the annual edition of the China Teachers’ Day in variety of activities on Thursday.
This year, the "Green Teacher's Day" initiative has been issued throughout the province, rejecting gifts and flowers, and advocating a low-carbon, environmentally friendly and frugal way of celebrating the festival.
The students of Zhenjiang Jurong Experimental Primary School wrote to their favorite teachers to express their gratitude to the teachers for their hard work.
Students from schools in Taizhou, Suqian and Huai’an used disposable paper cups, waste mineral water bottles, old paper boxes and other waste materials to make trophies and greeting cards for teachers.
The teachers across the province were tasked with the mission of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and re-opening the school in the days from late January until the preset day.
At present, Jiangsu has nearly 1 million teachers, and 36 colleges and universities have teacher-training degree programs which train 35,000 normal students every year.
