The four provincial regions in the Yangtze River Delta have joined hands to crack down on overloaded trucks in a law enforcement campaign to rein in overloading.
A six-axle truck with Shanghai license was intercepted by transport enforcement agents as it weighed 104 tons, well exceeding the limit.

In past practices, transport enforcement teams in Suzhou can book penalty points, impose fines and order transshipment if the truck is found to be overloading.
Due to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, the authorities where the trucks are registered will impose further punishment.

An overloaded freight truck was blamed for the collapse of an overpass last October in Wuxi, Jiangsu province that killed three people. Transportation authorities have since then enforced inspections and impose maximum penalties on truck drivers who overload their vehicles.
