The Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee held a meeting Monday in Nanjing to study General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches at the recent CPC Politburo meeting, the 22nd study session of the CPC Politburo and learn about the symposium on the publication the third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and the State Council’s regular measures on the joint prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, presided over the meeting.
General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech is of rich connotation and far-reaching significance by making many new major judgments on future development and putting forward many new major requirements to guide us to move forward in the right direction, according to a statement released after the meeting.
The in-depth study and understanding of the spirit of the General Secretary's important speech must be implemented in accordance with the latest requirements of the CPC Central Committee and the policies and decisions of the 8th Plenary Session of the 13th Provincial Party Committee, the statement said.
We must come to grips with the judgment of fighting a protracted war, maintain strong strategic resovle, adhere to the strategic direction of structural adjustment, achieve a long-term balance of stable growth and risk prevention, expand the advantages of high openness, complete industrial system, and large market space, and make more proactive efforts in building a new pattern of development featuring domestic and overseas circulation, said the statement.
Efforts should be made to implement the new requirements of the new development concept, promote safer and higher-quality development in the industrial system, food supply and social development, strengthen the weaknesses, consolidate the foundations, improve the level of modern governance and make greater efforts to promote high-quality development, according to the statement.
Greater efforts are needed to maintain steady progress while maintaining stability, keep up with regular epidemic prevention and control, expand domestic demand as the basis, improve livelihood as the foundation so as to ensure the fulfillment of this year’s goals for social and economic development, said the statement.
Arrangement was made at the meeting for the province-wide study and implementation of the third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China while emphasis is laid on the significance of the third volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China by making it a major political task at present and in the near future from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, the statement said.
The third volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China", published by the Foreign Languages Press in both Chinese and English, collects 92 articles, including speeches, conversations, instructions and letters of Xi, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, between Oct. 18, 2017 and Jan. 13, 2020.
The articles are divided into 19 topics and the volume also contains 41 photos of the Chinese leader during the same period.
The third volume records the practices of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core in uniting and leading the whole Party and Chinese people of all ethnic groups to make new and major progresses in various undertakings of the Party and country since the 19th CPC National Congress.
Being an authoritative work that fully and systematically reflects Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the new volume is expected to help the international community better understand the main contents of the thought, the CPC, Marxism and socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Further efforts are needed for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic without taking any chances by strengthening the control at airports, ports and arrivals from infected areas, said the statement.
