East China’s Jiangsu province has issued a circular to increase enrollment of postgraduates and draft more fresh college graduates in the military conscription in a bid to ensure the employment and soften the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jiangsu will increase the enrollment of postgraduates by 10 thousand this year, according to the circular.

Jiangsu will also increase the number of graduates with associate degrees to be admitted into bachelor’s degree programs.

45% of the fresh college graduates will be drafted into military service.

Jiangsu will also increase subsidies for small and micro enterprises that hire fresh college graduates and sign labor contracts valid for more than one year.

70% and 50% of the public management and social service positions at the grassroots level should be reserved for the fresh college graduates.

In the meantime, Jiangsu will provide up to 50 thousand trainees’ positions for the fresh college graduates.

A subsidy of 1500 yuan per person will be given to the fresh college graduates from low income families, families with handicapped members and families from Hubei province.

500 startup projects launched by college graduates will be given a subsidy of 100 thousand yuan each.
