A car festival providing consumers with a wide range of cars at low prices kicked off in Suzhou New District on July 9.
The local government will issue 2,650 subsidies during the month-long festival, with 1,000 cars priced less than 150,000 yuan ($21,450) receiving a subsidy of 1,000 yuan, 1,000 cars priced between 150,000 to 300,000 yuan receiving 2,000 yuan, and 650 cars priced over 300,000 yuan receiving 3,000 yuan.
Consumers buying cars at designated shops can attend a lucky draw via the WeChat account life2500sz. The prizes total 1.2 million yuan.
From July 9 to 12, a car fair featuring more than 30 world-renowned auto brands is taking place at the Suzhou Amusement Land, a popular local entertainment venue which has been operating for over two decades. The fair gives consumers the chance to buy cars while also enjoying recreational activities at the park.
"In addition, we will hold live-streams which aim to educate consumers, especially the younger generations, about our cars," said an organizer of the fair.
The festival is part of the district's efforts to boost its economy. Lucky bags and coupons worth 30 million yuan have been issued to help stimulate consumption.
