The left line of the Nanjing Heyan Road River Tunnel crossed the deepest trench at the bottom of the Yangtze River to overcome the biggest risk source in the tunnel construction.
The tunnel is located between the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge and the Second Yangtze River Bridge, 7.4 kilometers from the Yangtze River Bridge and 2.7 kilometers from the Second Yangtze River Bridge.
Construction on the 5725-meter tunnel designed according to the city expressway standard with the two-way six lanes and an hourly speed of 80 kilometers.
The shield section is about 2965 meters and the shield excavation diameter is 15.07 meters.
The deepest trench at the bottom of the river is 50 meters long with the fault fracture zone measuring a maximum water depth of about 52.5 meters.
The shield machine has experienced the test of high water pressure, and through the full preparation and fine control in the early stage, the constructors traversed the most difficult section of the entire tunnel.
The tunnel shield construction is 109 meters away from the south bank of the Yangtze River and will cross the Yangtze River waters within half a month.
Upon its opening in 2022, the tunnel will connect the northern and southern banks of the Yangtze River to improve traffic convenience for the local economy.
