East China’s Jiangsu province has taken a slew of measures to spur domestic consumption and invigorate market vitality.
A wide range of activities such as auto sales and tourism promotion were held across the province on Saturday.
127 consumption promotion events will be held from June to August by taking advantage of the International Children’s Day and the Dragon Boat Festival so as to boost the sales through the incorporation of local culture and distinctive advantages.
The commerce department will also support key commerce companies to make online promotions and develop live streaming and community e-commerce in a bid to promote consumption through multiple channels.
In the meantime, some cities have started to ease the restrictions on street stalls to invigorate the economy. The city of Nanjing has allowed the operation of temporary stalls at designated areas provided that they meet the requirements for city rules and regulations.
1410 temporary street stalls will be set up at 134 designated areas before the end of this year.
Authorities in Suzhou, Huai’an and Nantong have tried various measures to boost commercial activities during the night in a bid to stimulate the economy.
In Suqian, Kunshan, Yancheng and Wuxi, new forms of consumption have been implemented to promote experience consumption create a safe environment and boost consumer confidence.
From January to April, Jiangsu recorded 1.05 trillion yuan of retail sales, accounting for 9.8% of the national total and an increase of 1.2 percentage points from a year ago, demonstrating the accelerated pace of recovery and people’s willingness to consume.
