NPC deputies from Jiangsu province started Tuesday to deliberate the work report of the NPC Standing Committee, the work report of the Supreme People's Court and the work report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
The NPC deputies from Jiangsu noted that the work report of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress is guided by the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era and maintain the organic unity of upholding the leadership of the Party, the people being the masters of the country, and governing the country according to the rule of law.
They also remarked that the work report of the Supreme People's Court and the work report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate upheld the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, analyzed weak links in all aspects of work and responded to public concern.
Chen Zhenning, an NPC deputy from Jiangsu, said that in the past year, the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress has carried out their work from a high level of political stance with a strong sense of the overall situation through innovative efforts.
He noted that the Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress has learned from the experience of the National People's Congress by taking the initiative in legislation, supervision and decision-making on important matters so as to have promoted the high-quality and sustainable development of the province according to law.
NPC deputies Chen Mengmeng, Long Xiang, Xu Yiping and Wang Chao hoped the National People's Congress will amend the election law in due course to provide legal guarantee for the election of the NPC deputies
They also suggested on the role of the legislative bodies at the provincial level along the Yangtze River so as to pass more legislations on the protection of the mother river.
Wang Quan, Qian Kaifa, Sun Jingnan and Li Chengxia called for the inclusion of intentional concealment of major security risks in the scope of criminal law adjustment to protect public safety and the safety of citizens’ personal and property.
NPC deputies Xia Daohu, Li Qing, Liu Hua, Nie Yongping and Zhao Wei noted that the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate have continuously improved their consciousness of thinking in big-picture terms by serving the Party’s and state’s overall situations and advancing the modernization of judicial system and capacity for the benefits of the people.
The Jiangsu delegation of deputies to the NPC also reviewed the revised draft of the Civil Code and the revised draft decision of the National People's Congress on establishing and improving the legal system and enforcement mechanisms for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to safeguard the national security.
