Ji Bingxuan said under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, China's economic and social development achieved tremendous achievements last year while great progress has been made in the efforts to coordinate epidemic containment and economic and social development this year.
Economic and social development has entered a new era and the outbreak of an epidemic cannot change or stop the general trend, he said.
To adapt to the development needs of entering the new era, it is necessary to produce something that meets the needs of the new era， said the vice chairman, adding that modern society is a digital society, information society, and big data society. It can also be called a society led by science. The power of science and technology as a productive force is increasing. Many traditional things are to be eliminated.
Efforts should be made to upgrade the products, equipment, business models, production methods and ideologies that are not adapted to the development of the times, said Ji Bingxuan.
Digitalization and informatization are replacing mechanization, which is an irresistible trend, he said, adding that after several years of supply-side structural reforms, many changes have taken place in the country’s various industrial sectors.
Ji Bingxuan said the construction of socialist modernization and the realization of the two centenary goals require the support by a large number of modern high-tech enterprises and industries and the strengthening by a large amount of hard and soft power, making it necessary to promote the in-depth advancement of ideological concepts, development ideas, and continuous update and improvement of work styles so as to meet the needs of the changing situation and carry out the reform.
